Apartment hunting has reached new lows

I'm trynna move to save some money, but MAN rents have skyrocketed (a friend of mine said rents in DC are outpacing Manhattan since 2008. MANHATTAN! Remind me again why I live here...) I decided I would be ok with downsizing to a studio and forcing myself to get rid of some stuff and live more simply.

But I'm sorry, nobody can live this simply:

That area off to your right is the kitchen. You heard me.

The truly ridiculous part is that they were still trying to rent that studio for like $1200 a month. It didn't have any other photos, but I wouldn't be surprised if the toilet was just sitting in the middle of the room. I saw another one for something like $800 a month (a steal!) but it had no kitchen at all.

So frustrating!
