Cirque du Soleil

I went to Cirque du Soleil's Kooza show here in DC last Sunday. It was a great experience, but maybe not quite as breathtaking as everyone makes it sound. There is some kind of background story or theme to the show, but I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be! Something about a little guy losing his kite or something, it was kind of strange.

But the stunts were wicked cool, especially the contortionists. I just can't believe some people can move their bodies like that, it was out of control. As always, I got bored with the clowns and sleight of hand tricks, and sort of wished for some animals, like little dancing dogs (this show didn't have animals of any kind except humans).

Speaking of that, I know it's bad to have tigers and elephants and other wild animals in circuses, but is it so bad to have little trained dogs doing tricks? Dogs kind of do tricks at home anyway, so it doesn't seem so inhumane. Anyway, I digress.

It actually takes place inside a big top tent, which was very authentic, but it was FREEZING outside, I would have appreciated an arena during intermission and stuff. Tickets are pretty astronomical, too. But it was a fun show and I'm glad I went.
