Review: The Park at Fourteenth

Two thumbs DOWN.

I should probably elaborate, even though I don't really feel like it and just want you to take my word for it. But anyway, here goes...

It looks like a cheap, 1970s hotel lobby inside.

The music was horrid.

The people were beyond boring and, even worse, unfriendly.

The drinks were ungodly expensive and while I didn't purchase one, I did try some of Zakia's and it tasted like pure grenadine. Gag.

It did bring me to a realization, though, and for that I have to give it some credit. You know how some people really care about superficial image, like what cars people drive (not because they love cars, but because they want to show off money), or what designer people are wearing (and not because the clothes look beautiful, but because they show off money), and not about truly having fun but about looking good in front of other people, and even excluding other people and being downright mean to make themselves feel better? I really always thought that mindset was an immaturity people grew out of.

But it's not. Some people are just inherently that shallow, that stuff really is what they honest-to-god care about way deep down. I start to feel so sorry for them because of all the beauty and pure joy and deep pain and real meaning in the world that they're not even scratching the surface of. But they don't even know what they're missing! So there's nothing to feel sorry for. It's the strangest thing, I can't believe I didn't fully grasp it before now.

It's not that I think we should all go around being grubby and gross, of course I think we should try to look and feel our best. I also appreciate money cos I know how comfortable it makes life. But wow, that stuff is what drives their lives, all that superficial fluff is actually what gives their lives meaning! I'm still reeling.

And how did I live this long without realizing this? You're all probably laughing at my naivety.

On another note, the Powerball jackpot hit $230 million, I was informed at the convenience store this morning. So I decided to buy my very first Powerball ticket. If I win, I'm totally gonna go buy a table at The Park and stare at everyone with a haughty look on my face like I am somebody. ha

I just realized, you can't tell by the name what The Park is - it's a lounge over by McPherson Square.

People aren't really like that Ginger. Everyone has feelings. They just happen to like money just as much as you like food.

Touche. Note to self: get over yourself.

Love you, Beaz. :)

That's really ironic, I saw the powerball was up that high too and I had a dream last night that I won $400 million dollars in the lottery!

Go buy a ticket!

That place WAS awful. The people were just there to try to make themselves feel better about their lives because it was full of nothing other than throwing around cash (and most likely their parent’s cash - I've yet to meet a wealthy person by their own merit under 30). I have no problem with those that have money, but rather with those that are malicious with it. There are things we love and some things we understand better than others. The difference between those people and us is that we don't use what we have to put down others or exclude them to make ourselves feel better.

People have the right to do what they please. It will please me to not associate with callous people.

Just did a company wide Powerball pool. 25 tickets were bought (yes, it's a small company) and we are going to win BIG. BIG MONEY, BIG MONEY, NO WHAMMY, NO WHAMMY, STOP!

It's okay to feel like that when you don't have money and you are faking the funk trying to look the part. We all can see through you and know who you all are. If the only nights we see you are on the free nights without a guestlist, then you have been spotted. Now for those of you who are wealthy (wink) we are aware you come to the park at various times and are welcomed.
