Amazingly, I still find ways to waste copious amounts of time

I don't know if I told you, but I recently broke my TV. I barely watched it anyway, just sometimes for the evening news or a show while I ate dinner (Ghost Whisperer with Jennifer Love Hewitt was a favorite, I admit with no shame) or mostly for movies. Much, much, MUCH to my Grandpa's chagrin when he came to visit and wanted to watch the weather channel, I also didn't have cable. So it was always just four fuzzy channels, even on the best days.

Anyway, I had a party recently and wanted to use the top of the TV stand for seating. So I moved the TV to the couch, where it seemed to have a pretty secure footing, and then I was gonna haul it down to the storage room for the night. However, when my back was turned to dust off the stand, the fatty suddenly lurched forward and belly flopped with an apartment-reverberating thud onto the floor.

I tried to turn it back on, I mean, you never know, but all I got was a blinding flash of light and then a bright white line across the middle of the screen. Off, then on again. Same results. My Samsung had met her maker. So I hauled it out to the dumpster, which I later found out was a really bad move because of electronics pollution. I feel so stupid about that, but how do you haul a 50 pound TV out of a dirty dumpster once it's at the bottom? I'll let the Arlington County sanitation department sort it out.

So now I have no TV, which is fine, except for the movie watching. Watching them on a laptop is not the same as having surround sound and a decent-sized screen. I'm so lazy, though, lord only knows when I'll get around to getting a new one. Probably when someone gives me their old one, in much the same fashion as I come by my cell phones.

Speaking of which, does anyone have a lightly used but still functional Verizon phone they'd like to unload? I know someone who might be interested... ;-)

Sorry, no phone. I recently dropped mine and the top of the clamshell came almost entirely unattached from the bottom. I can't use the speakerphone anymore, but otherwise, it's doing remarkably well.
On the other hand, I have a small tv in my bedroom that I forgot to hook up to cable when I got it. It doesn't have rabbit ears and, therefore, gets no signal. it would work for movie watching or regular tv if you have an extra antenna. I would be willing to trade the use of such tv for a couple months for cat-sitting this weekend:) - just one check in on Saturday, no big commitment.

It would be my pleasure to stop in and check on the cats! Although - I had a nightmare last night that all these housecats were attacking me. I hope it wasn't a premonition.

Mindy, Ginger loves other people's cats! As a matter of fact, she volunteered her home for mine when I re-model my kitchen. By the by, they are very excited about it! :)
