Under pressure...
I'm setting myself up to fail and I don't know why! I have many, many, many, many deadlines coming up at work and am completely immobilized. Nothing is getting done. Please, someone give me some practical first steps I can take to finish my projects. I hate this feeling!!
On another note, I'm home in South Dakota for a few days for my friend Joslyn's birthday. She had a dance party that was second to none, I danced for four hours with maybe only 20 minutes sitting down the whole night. It was amazing.

The state where you'll never find the dance floor empty!
My mom had a gorgeous dinner catered for us by one of her chef friends the next evening. It was so delicious. I will admit I may have hit the wine a little hard, but I think that's what you do at dinner parties...? Well, that's what I do at any rate. Later on we played board games and talked with Joslyn and Brian.
Well, I better go, it's time to eat yet again! I am on vacation after all!

Figure out which project is the most important and concentrate on that one first. For the rest, go back to the people who are expecting the work from you and tell them now that you're running a little behind schedule. One thing I learned from consulting is that if you warn people _in advance_ that something is going to be late, they don't usually mind very much. They only freak out if you don't tell them until _after it's late_.
Allison just emailed me and said she was going to take your advice. I did, too - and my editor said, "Why are you even worrying? You have a whole week before I'll need it." You're a lifesaver!
I'm also going to start making lists and crossing things off as I go. Getting all worked up like this is for the birds.
lists, tracking your calendar, and managed expectations are the way to go, especially when you are dealing with very different projects for very different people/clients.
this also may sound crazy, but the more i have to do, the more i actually get done. when i've only got one thing in the cooker, it just drags out.
it's a great feeling when you've got a list with half a dozen checkboxes and you get to mark the final one off.
