We're a tricycle
The venerable Orleans House in Rosslyn closed its doors yesterday, but not before I got a meal in it! I drive past that place all the time but had never eaten there, so when Todd and Mindy mentioned it was closing and we should go, I was all over it.
I told Debra I was going out for a nice steak dinner, and she said excitedly, "Ooooh, with who?!" "Todd and Mindy."
"Aw, so you're gonna be the third wheel again, huh?" she said.
That thought had never even occurred to me! I never feel like the third wheel, not really with any of the couples I socialize with, but especially not with them. Maybe that is just me not picking up on social cues (entirely possible), but honestly, I'm never made to feel bad for not having a steady. I told both of them at dinner and they were like, "Oh my god, you are NEVER the third wheel with us, never ever."
Then later when I was dropping them off at Todd's car, he said, "In fact, we have just enough wheels when we all hang out. We're a tricycle!"

Ha, before you said that Debra had said that I was thinking the same thing. But since you were friends with both of them before they were a couple I am sure it doesn't really seem like that.
Sorry, didn't mean to upset you. The comment was more about my distaste of being a third wheel. You know, maybe I should clue into what the universe is telling me - my bicycle was stolen this past week. I wonder where I could find a unicycle..... :)
