Another beautiful opera: Don Giovanni

It was sold out, but I was undeterred - I WOULD see Don Giovanni if it was the last thing I did! I'd been looking forw ard to it since La Boheme, waiting for the more affordable tickets to b e released, but I never got a message about them in my inbox. Then I looked on t he website, and all the shows were SOLD OUT.

I was so disappointed, I whined and begged a friend of mine who works at the Kennedy Center to find some for me, but she couldn't even get tickets for herself, so I was out of luck. But wait! Upon investigating the opera company's website, I discovered their "Access to Opera" program. If you get up early and wait outside the doors on the days of certain shows, they sell 50 tickets for good seats for only $25 apiece. You can guess where I was at 8 AM on November 7.

And I got my tickets! I was ninth in line, yay me.

And you guys, what an amazing show. The costumes and sets were so beautiful, much more fancy and eye-catching than some I've seen, so just to look at it alone was really special. The story was really good (though kind of depressing) and the singing was amazing. I went with Debra cos she likes opera, too, and we just had the best time. It was like being surrounded with beautiful things for all your senses.

It was pretty long, so I think we got home about 11:30 or midnight. Then I had to get to packing for my 8 AM flight to Puerto Rico the next morning. Typical Ginger planning.
