Dreams

How much stock do you put in dreams? I had one last night that was a bear hunting me through the icy water of Lake Superior. At night. Needless to say, when I looked it up, it does not portend happy events.

Seriously, this is the last thing I need right now, more crap to pop up and stall me from moving forward. I am so stuck right now, I just need SOME kind of break. What does my subconscious see that I don't? How do I get it out of the way so I can move ahead? Maybe there will be some answers during tonight's sleep...

Hey Ginger,
I think you should just write down all your options in a notebook. Explore everything you might like to do, even if it seems outlandish. Then let it all ruminate and maybe some new things will emerge as possibilities. And maybe your dreams will help direct you at night. And relax and enjoy where you are right now, taking classes, working, taking nice lunch breaks, spending time with your friends, enjoying fall, reading, talking to your mom and dad and sisters on the phone. You don't need to rush into anything. You're doing ok, there's no need to stress yourself about the future. When things are right you'll know it. I love you! MOM

First of all, your mom should have an advice column on her blog, so we can all write in and get some guidance. I am seriously vicariously going to use your mom's advice.

Second, I have heard theories that the "you" in your dreams is very rarely representative of you. That theory says THAT person represents some other part of your life, and you are some other character in your dream. So maybe this dream is meerly a reflection of your life right now, that you're a bear, chasing something that is eluding you. I like that idea better than you being at risk of being eaten by a bear, anyway :).

Ginger, I agree with mom too. You know what you want in life, and because of that you will get it. When the time is right. Seriously, remember what we talked about yesterday? Just do it already!!! You are the only one holding yourself back.

hey my MOOSE!! i miss you so much and wish i could see you. heart you!!!!!!

Look at it this way. Dreams aren't about what's GOING to happen to you. They're about what you're THINKING/WORRYING is going to happen to you.

So the question to ask is not 'are bad things coming', it's 'why do I think bad things are coming'?

When you approach it from that angle, a dream can give you an opportunity for some cheap self-therapy. Think about what things in your life you're anxious about, and whether or not those anxieties are justified or not. Most of the time, they're not - we just worry about things because we're programmed to worry about things (thanks, evolution!).

It doesn't sound so far-fetched to me. Bears are looking for food cause they're getting ready to hibernate. I guess I wouldn't take any long walks alone in the woods if I were you. ;-)
