Finished my second semester

I finished my second semester at NOVA back in May, which was a relief because I was taking 13 credits. It was fun, but time-consuming! I doubt I'll be in a position where I'll be taking that many credits at the same time again (at least at NOVA), but I got so excited about the language classes, I just really wanted to get started on everything.

Can I teach you some words I learned? I'll transliterate them.

insha allah - literally means "if God wills it," and said in response to a lot of things. I sort of liken its usage to when we say "hopefully" even though it doesn't mean exactly the same thing. "Insha allah you'll come to visit me soon," stuff like that.

baayt - house

marhaba - hello

habeebee - sweetheart

That's enough for now, I'm sure there'll be more where this came from! I'll be taking Arabic 102 starting July 3 - that means I have to do a 5-credit class in 6 weeks. Oof.

man. you need to give up your source of motivation to do so much! :) i could definitely use some school energy.

i like the spelling of 'habeebee'.

My motivation is that I only have to take the classes I like, so I want to be in them. I'm not forced to slog through to get a degree, which makes a huge difference.

And Beaz, I would spell it more "sabaw el kheir" with that throat-clearing type sound on the "kh" part. But you got it! :-) It means "good morning."
