Cruisin'
Liz and I volunteered to help with a sunset cruise on the Potomac River last week. Volunteering with that International Club is so easy, all we ever really have to do is check people into the events and we get to go for free. It was so stinkin' hot and muggy that day, so it was nice to get out on the water.
It was so humid there was kind of a haze hanging over everything. And look at the dark bags under my eyes. I look like Frankenstein.
They served food from Lebanese Taverna on the boat and it was fantastically delicious. The guy who owns the ICDC (International Club of DC - it's a for-profit enterprise) heaped himself up a plate, but when Liz and I went to get our plates, he made us wait for people who'd paid to go first, so we didn't get to try some of the meats cos they ran out. I was a little miffed about that, I mean the dude's getting PAID to put together these things, but asking us to work them for free, and he gets to eat first? Hmph.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at dusk.
At any rate, it was fun, we watched planes take off and land at Reagan airport, waved at other boaters, and stuffed our faces. We didn't really mingle very much, I have a bad tendency when I go with someone to a party to just sort of latch onto them and ignore everyone else. I mean, I really do like to meet people, but my natural tendency is to latch. Oh well!
