Why are we doing this to ourselves?

Terrorists bombed Bombay's subways this morning. They're talking about detached limbs and dead bodies lying about the tracks, can you even imagine? Blood splattered all over the insides of the train windows, screaming, running chaos?? I don't know what I'd do. Do you stay and help, do you run for your life? I honestly think you can't know the answer to that until you're put in the situation. I just think, what if they bombed Metro Center one morning? My God.

And I'm sorry, but the older I get, the less and less I understand this incessant killing in the name of religion (they're suspecting it's Islamic terrorists again) and race. You're killing in the name of this God you can't see or feel or talk to or interact with at all? Killing people who, deep down, are just like you, they just want to live and be happy? I don't get it! How can I understand? Why do we hurt each other like this? It's enough to make me want to cry.

I just read a short article today about the situation over in Darfur. The Sudanese government isn't allowing UN troops to come in and try to help with peacekeeping, or as I like to look at it, helping stop the slaughter and rape of innocents. The Sudanese president can't agree to it, because he's afraid of Sudan's powerful military, none of the members of which want to be court-martialed in the future for their roles in the genocide. But one of the most eager would-be suppliers of troops, Tanzania, says they won't help until Sudan's president agrees to it. Which he can't. It's such a bloody quagmire none of it ever seems like it'll be fixed - cos it's pretty obvious people never get tired of killing each other.

Poverty, Illiteracy, and a need to belong.

Tool, has a song title "Opiate", it sums up everything and helps you understand how a terrorist is made. I'm sure that wasn't their intention, but like anything artistic, it's the viewer who interprets and appreciates the art, not the artist himself.

Just a snippet:

"If you want to get your soul to heaven,
Trust in me .
Dont judge or question.
You are broken now ,
But faith can heal you.
Just do everything I tell you to do.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow.
Let me lay my holy hand upon you."
