Home sweet home
In the short time I was back in South Dakota, I spotted a few of the things that make me love that state so much.
First and foremost - drive-up liquor stores.
Yes, I patronized the drive-up liquor store, getting ready for a little party my parents were having on their back patio. Man, that back patio is another reason to love going home. I would KILL for a back patio on summer nights.
Second, the wide-open spaces. I love all the trees on the east coast, but like Erin's uncle says, sometimes you just want to see a sunset again. And the stars at night.
Note the bikers!
Third - fried twinkies at Ribfest.
Everyone looks good stuffing a fried, chocolate-drizzled, powdered-sugared pound cake down their gullet. Especially me and Kari.
Fourth - little Sug lives in SD.
Sugar doesn't actually love me all that much because I'm kind of rough with her. My mom claims she's sweeter than our last dog because we kids don't live at home to terrorize her. I do my best during visits.
Fifth - the Hutterites.
Yep, right there on the highway. In a wagon.

great, you love all of that--so come live by MEEEEE!!
You went to ribfest while you were home?! I had no idea. I'm so jealous.
I got homesick looking at these pictures.
Ok, Ginger, why not just move back here. It would be so nice to have you nearby. I know you are happy there so I am just being selfish. But it would be nice.
Ok, the hutterite deal, Ginger you lived in SD long enough to know that "hoots" don't ride in wagons anymore just vans and grain truck with about twenty of them crammed in the cab. That was probably some farmer escaping his wife for a few hours.
OK, you can get some of that here.
Instead of Hutterites, we have Mennonites.

And I just had a heckuva porkback ribs and pulled pork dinner last night w/ Missy and Bruce.
And if you drive out of the city, there are lots of places with open fields that let you see the sky. But you do have to leave the city. No city on earth has great views of the sky unless you go on top of a building.
